  1. I’ve decided to just boycott the entire range of dirty south trash. I love the remix report series and everything you guys have done so far, but in all honesty, if you can get away with not playing this crap, just don’t bother.. Worst “music” ever, in the history of music itself..

  2. I play a college night every Friday in DC that primarily 19-23 year old black people. I had to learn quickly what they were into. Here’s some other serious dirty south they like:

    Gucci Mane – Lemonade
Lil Wayne feat Gucci – Steady Mobbin
Gucci Mane feat. Ludacris – Freaky Gurl Remix
    Plies – Plenty Money
FLY – Swag Surfin (easily the biggest song of the night)
    Shawty Lo – Dey Know
    Young Dro – Take Off
    Yung LA – Ain’t I
Lil Wil – Bust It Open & My Dougie
OJ Da Juiceman – Make The Trap Aye
Crime Mob – Knuck If You Buck, Stiletto Pumps, Rock Yo Hips
Trey Songz – LOL Smiley Face
Soulja Boy – Gucci Bandana, Turn My Swag On, Pronto,

All of these go off every time. I have made short edits of each one (all of them containing intro, chorus, verse, chorus, outro) that work great for me. Some of them (like Knuck If You Buck) you really HAVE to play the verses for – the bit where Princess of Crime Mob goes “Yeah, we knuckin and buckin and ready to fight” I can drop the volume out on every time because I know my crowd will sing along.

Soulja Boy always does well, same with Gucci.

  3. Good list here are a couple others that work for me. I’m up at Opal/BLU in South Tahoe every weekend, so yeah a bunch of really drunk “Beckies” and “Chads”.

Beyonce – Video Phone / Diva
    Unk – 2step (Remix) just T Pain Verse/Chorus
Pop Lock and Drop It ( Remix) Again only the T Pain verse
Keri Hilson – Turn Off (most times)
Fashen’s Lollipop x Whatever You Like Blend
    Laze & Royal – Like A Pistol
Bonecrusher – Never Scared (Sizzla Remix)
    Cobra’s – One in a Millie
Lil Scrappy – Money in the Back
    Destiny’s Child – Soldier

Great website by the way, keep it up!

  4. @jack – Southern Hip-hop is definitely not one of my favorite genre’s, but as DJ’s we often find ourselves playing at events where the music isn’t always what we prefer. It doesn’t look like this style is going anywhere soon. We’ll have to put up with it for a while… hahaha

@Benny C & AFS – Thanks for adding those tracks to the list. Since I haven’t played in an urban club in a while I’m not as familiar with some of the deeper tracks. I’ll def be adding those to my crates though.

  5. Some tracks

    Bone – Homegurl
    Candi Redd – Independent
    Al Fatz – Came Down

  6. I try to avoid this stuff at all times but I will admit, southern rap is a guilty pleasure. Alot of it sucks but some will get a party cracking if you use great timing and programming. This also gives you an opportunity to run thru hits fairly quickly, usually hooks and drop the 1 verse off a real hot song…

Lately, Ive incorporated “4-Pound – AMBALAMPS” (hook only) after that YouTube video of the 68 year old man beating on another dude on a local transit bus… People always laugh and have a good time with that. The Lonely Island & T-Pain’s “Im On A Boat” always gets the party cracking, surprisingly. I love taking risks when I can and it seems to always work. Here’s a list of some tracks I ran thru this past Friday around 115am-140am (when club closed) in San Francisco on the low BPM range.

Fat Joe – Make It Rain
    TI – Whatever You Like
Santogold feat. Three 6 Mafia – Shove It (Remix)
    Chamillionaire – Ridin
    Savage – Swing
Crime Mob feat. Lil Scrappy – Rock Yo Hips
Drake feat. Lil Wayne – Im Going In
    VIC – Silly
    Lil Wayne – Mrs. Officer
Keri Hilson – Turnin Me On

  7. I know this is a little late, and you guys prob havent heard about this track yet. Still kinda new. Getting a lot of play in chicago with the urban crowd. “Up and Down – Dat boy Hot2def” .. Its like a Milli, but better and not as obnoxious with the a milli in the back.

  8. Heya are using WordPress for your site platform? I’m new to the blog world but I’m trying to get started and create my own. Do you require any coding expertise to make your own blog? Any help would be really appreciated!
