JD & Jay! you guys are on point with this playlist. The only two I disagree with on the list is “Motown Philly and “100% Pure Love”. In Vegas those two serve as peak hour songs. I could see how Motown Philly could be used for opening if you play a verse or two,but in a headlining set we would just play the hook because the energy drops out right after. Although 100% Pure love is older and very commercial I would still play it later in the night,so I could follow with more house music. Just my opinion and honestly it’s not going to burn the headliner if you were to incorporate those two songs in your opening set.
First off, I wanna say I love what u guys are doing, it’s a great thing and helps all of us with enhancing our skills. I like reading over your opening set playlists, seems really similar to what I do. Gotta agree with you, too, when you say this BPM range is a little more difficult than others, cause it really is… you have to have the right tracks in line to get people out of their seats and keep ’em movin, and it seems that most bangers don’t fall in this category. Anyways, couple tracks I wanted to mention are :
Black Box – Strike It Up and/or Everybody Everybody
Yazoo – Situation
Lady Gaga – Just Dance and/or Poker Face (rarely ever play those tracks at primetime anymore)
Bobby Brown – My Perogative
Madonna – Music
Gorillaz – DARE
Daft Punk – Da Funk
DJs Mighty Mi & Steve1der – Electric Touch
DJ Ri – Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire(Drumline Refix)
Discotech – Knockin Boots(rework)
Discotech – Party Warp vol. 1
Discotech – Do Ya Think I’m Sexy (Bass Mix)
DJ Scarmixxed – Shake Your Booty
CeCe Peniston – Finally
DJ Scene – American Boy(The Breaks edit)
Mr.Cheeks – Lights Camera Action
Janet Jackson – If
Soul Decision – Faded
Ting Tings – Shut Up and Let Me Go
INXS – Need You Tonight
Fine Young Cannibals – She Drives Me Crazy (tend to follow this right behind INXS)
All-American Rejects – Move Along
DJ Super Scott – Listen to the Music
Indeep – Last Night a DJ Saved My Life
Queen – Another One Bites the Dust
Those are just a few that seem to work well for myself, hopefully that helps out others reading this post. Another thing I wanna add, to all DJs that don’t have a headliner behind them and are throwin the party all night… don’t be afraid to start off with some brand new top 40 tracks, 2 to 3 hours later u can still play them, it’s just you will get people up and dancing a lot faster, so it’s not necessarily “blowing your load too early”!
Here are some more for you guys. Hope it helps.
Petey Pabo – Freek a leek
Amerie – Take control
Black Eyed Peas – Joints & Jam
Lumidee – Crazy
Joe Budden – Fire
The Federation – I wear my stunna glasses at nite

Hehe, this shows that openers differ in different locations/venues, quite interesting. From the above comments I’d play some of them but a lot of them are more main set tunes although maybe not peak. Agree with most of remix reports picks though, good stuff.
Some I play that I think fit what you guys are talking about, for me would be:
Justin : Lovestoned / If I
Estelle: American Boy
Snoop: Signs / Beautiful / Thats That (bit lower BPM)
Ahmir: Welcome to my party (good opener)
JoJo: This Time
Joe: Ride Wit U
Beyonce etc: Fighting Temptation (towards end of warm up)

Foxy Brown: Big Bad Mama
Chantele Ft jim Jones: Turnin Me On
