What Song Are You Gonna Play At 12 O’Clock On NYE?

This has been eating at me for the last couple of weeks.  I’m gonna be playing live with a drummer right after the countdown, so I have to plan that set in advance (so he can practice).  Problem is I have no idea what song to start with.  I feel like “Get Lucky” and “Blurred Lines” are too played out, and I don’t wanna play something girly like “Roar” or “Timber”.  I have a remix of “Wake Me Up” that has some energy but I’m not really sold on that.  Right now, I’m leaning towards “Animals”, but if there was something remotely better, I’d jump on it.  What are you guys thinking?

  1. I’m going back and forth between ‘Reload’ and ‘Yee’

  2. That’s dope if you can get away with it. For me, I’m not sure I can get away with as much house. We’ll see, but I have a feeling my crowd is gonna be extra commercial on NYE.

  3. Don’t judge me, but at midnight, I always drop this version of Auld Lang Syne, http://grooveshark.com/#!/album/Auld+Lang+Syne/7319225. I feel like you can only hear/play this song once a year so why not? Then during the breakdown I transition into something else. Not sure to what yet though…

    • I always drop the Original by Guy Lombardo.
It’s the best and considering it’s played once a year, it adds a bit of nostalgia to the set before crossing over into the New Year.
Consider it a free history lesson as to the origin of the NY Eve tradition.

  4. I think that also depends where you are. Definitely the classy choice to play right after lol

  5. What are you guys playing? My crowd is prob gonna be top 40. I have no idea.

  6. I’m playing a “hip” open format I think…..top 40 remixes with some twerk trap and electro. Now I’m leaning towards “Turn Down For What”.
